The Students are Coming!

Hello All!
Students come in just a couple days! Whaaat. These past couple weeks and months have been solid preparation for the kiddos.

Honestly I am even more prepared than Scar was in Lion King. ;)
I am ready to teach yoga, swimming, self-awareness, and mentoring. We have been meeting regularly to pray and plan out responsibilities, programs, classes, and activities.
Please pray for us as we start working with the students! Pray for unity and love amongst the staff. As well as starting off relationships with the students well. I can’t wait to share more with you next time and give you faces to pray for!

Again, thank you so much for partnering with me in this work! God is doing some cool things here in Zambia!

Much love and prayer,

Looking at what God did last year
This guy with the cheeky smile is named Maffa. And boy do I adore him. But when he first walked onto campus last year, all I saw was a gangly teenager.
At the beginning of the year, he sat quietly in class and was well behaved. But one day someone turned music on and that was when the switch flipped. He was out in the middle of the room moving his hips here and his arms there. Everyone was surprised. He was really good!
After that, he really opened up. Whenever I was walking around GLO I would hear “Apu!” and know he was around.
Maffa is energetic and fun, loud once you get to know him, and also very kind. One of the kindest people I know in fact. One day as we sat around the charcoal cooking dinner, Maffa told me that he had a younger brother with a physical handicap. He cannot speak or walk but they are best friends.
Throughout the whole six months, Maffa opened up to me about girl problems, nightmares, school, and family issues. And it was such a privilege to be able to listen and speak love into his life. Through gap year he grew into a strong leader. When we needed to choose someone to lead the group in something, he would always be at the top of the list. Through this, he realized that one of his gifts is influencing people and he started to learn how to do that for the glory of God. I cannot wait to see where life takes him!
